Has your heart ever been so heavy it feels like it’s just going to fall right out of your chest? Or your mind is so cluttered and it just might explode if something else is put there? Or if one more bad thing happens you might just break, and then another bad thing happens. Do you ever hold in tears while you’re in line at Starbucks? This has been me the last two weeks. It feels like the CHAOS button was pushed and I can’t seem to turn it off.
When we’re faced with chaos, pain, or frustration we have the choice to look at the struggle and dwell, or turn to what we know is true- God’s word. But when we’re in those sort of situations, it’s not easy. It’s not easy to focus on Jesus when we’re heavy hearted or anxious.
And I’m talking to myself in this post more than all of you. (Have you ever given someone advice and realized that you’re actually telling yourself?) So much of our Christian life is making intentional decisions. We have the ability to shift our focus from struggle to Jesus because struggles do not have power over us.
Anxiety has no power over us.
Sickness has no power over us.
Heartbreak has no power over us.
Chaos has no power over us.
Struggle has no power over us.
I’m not saying that the tears or feelings won’t be present. I’m not saying it’s easy. All I’m saying is that we are empowered to fix our eyes on Jesus and overcome whatever we are going through; our hearts won’t fall out, our minds won’t explode, and we won’t break if one more bad thing happens.
We serve Jehovah-Shalom, the Lord IS peace. His peaceful nature surpasses all understanding, and He guards us. We are safe in Him.
Stay encouraged.
Love, Sarah Lynn
“I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:1-2
I have had these songs on repeat. Sooo much peace in them.
Lovely! I to have been struggling with anxiety and worry. Reading this helps me to know we are not alone. As a believer it is had at times to admit we get like this. Thank you for sharing your story. ❤️❤️❤️
I think it’s so important to be transparent so we’ll know we’re not alone. Praying for you!
